Seven years ago, Jennifer and Lydia worked together as Human Service Mental Health providers. These passionate women were exhausted by the amount of generational family and institutional racial trauma that their clients experienced. The number of unmet needs and massive systematic disparities is what fueled the two women to form AINGA.
They have parallel backgrounds in community service systems that served Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and other significantly underserved communities.
Ainga is a Samoan language word for "family, including extended family through generations, marriage, adoption, or any other connection which focuses on duty to care for its members".

Since Lydia graduated from North Community High School in North Minneapolis in 1996, she has pursued the profession of Psychology as a way to understand the generational traumas and behaviors of her community and how she will one day be able to give back and serve the community that she once lived in, continues live in, and be a part of.

It is so exciting to be a part of something that is much bigger than myself and I am more than humbled by the experiences that I have had and very excited by what is to come.”
